ACCESSORIES!!! - Skin Product Series - Part 8

ACCOMPLISH THOSE #SKINGOALS VIA YOUR FACE, HANDS + ACCESSORES

Today marks the end of this 8-week series.  To be honest, I had so much fun with this series.  True, some of it is because I get to showcase my knowledge and the beautiful products that I have created.  But I also just really love educating on everything Skin + Body Wellness.  And what's great for the skin is ultimately great for the body and vice versa.

But oh the tools... 🤩

You can use your hands for massage, you can do face yoga, but there is something about those beautiful tools that I just LOVE!

Since I was a little girl I had a fascination with stones.  My dad even bought a rock polisher for me so we could really see the beauty they held.  Fast forward to Reiki and energy work, I really dove deep into gemstones and what properties they hold.  Not to mention, I am still drawn to stones and you will find them everywhere in my home and in my workspace.

My current fascination is how to accomplish your skin goals via tools, hands and stone Gua Shas, rollers, wands, etc.  All these beautiful tools can be used to move lymph, stimulate circulation, sculpt the face, etc.

To be quite honest, tools are one of my favorite topics, and to top that off, I absolutely LOVE teaching women how to use them properly for ultimate results based on their own needs.

True… it doesn’t always involve tools as some of the teaching I do is massage-based or face yoga for firming and toning (think working out and lifting weights), but all of these modalities help us age with beauty and assist in giving our skin that glow from within, so that we can remain as youthful as possible.  Not to mention the benefits all of the above have for keeping the skin clear from acne and congestion and giving it that nourished - youthful - vibrancy of a healthy skin!!!

Our lymph is known as the "river of life" and lies just under our skin. And right beneath that is the realm of our fascia, or connective tissue.   Now, the liver is the lymph’s life source, and the lymph is where the liver likes to dump its waste.

You cannot address your lymphatic system without also addressing your liver. Your lymphatic system is a dumping ground for your liver. Junk, fats, and pathogens get stored in the liver, which then overflow into the blood and then the lymph.

If you have a skin condition, it will surface because of toxins traveling through the lymph and exiting through the skin.  It usually begins in the liver, and your skin is a mirror to what is happening internally. Of course, gut health and hormones can play a part as well. This is why I love Facial Reflexology (more on this below😉)

So there’s that.

Now let’s go through this other layer, the connective tissue.

Connective tissue does exactly what it says: it connects everything, the skin to the muscles, it surrounds and connects our organs and there is ONLY 1 sheath that begins at the top of our head and connects all the way to the bottom of the feet.

This is where wrinkles lie and trauma (physical, spiritual, and emotional) can be stored in the connective tissue.  It is also where adhesions form and chronic strain (like head forward all day), stress, or overuse, make it so our connective tissue less hydrated less pliable as it should (think Saran Wrap, all bunched together).

By gently releasing this tissue, we increase the flow of lymphatic movement, help to smooth out those wrinkles, lift the skin and make everything feel much better. Plus, it feels amazing to do and has a calming action on the nervous system.

With the above said, wouldn’t it make sense to use ALL of the above for the ultimate in skin health and youthfulness???

Myofascial release and Connective Tissue Massage, along with lymphatic drainage can help decrease headaches, pain in the neck and face, local swelling and puffiness from extra fluid accumulation, and in the long run helps the skin to age vibrantly, since it acts as direct skin support and helps the skin be healthier from the inside out.

Manual lymphatic drainage, gua sha, and lymphatic clearing protocols, face yoga, facial reflexology and facial massage all have their specific uses and are supportive tools for healthy glowing skin, but they work in synergy with other lifestyle factors.

And this way of working with the skin, though having cumulative effects, is WAY more sustainable and WAY more beneficial than any topical product or treatment you will ever spend money on.  Most of these are a one-time investment, and some knowledge on how to use them properly, but then YOU HAVE the know-how of healing and beauty in YOUR OWN hands!!!

The TOOLS.

Let me summarize what each of these tools have to offer.

  • Hands + Facial Massage (think body massage) helps to relieve muscles tension and create circulation. You can also do lifting and sculpting movements. All very important.

  • Hands + Lymphatic Drainage – when done properly, helps stimulate the lymph to cleanse the body’s tissues, which helps with aging and puffiness, skin conditions, constipation, allergies, detoxification, headaches, stiffness, nasal and ear conditions and more.

  • Hands + Connective Tissue Massage is a very distinct technique and helps to break down adhesions that form in the fascia, which helps correct wrinkles, helps to hydrate the skin within, is calming for the nervous system, helps release trapped trauma and emotions, helps with scarring and uneven texture. AND is deemed the Natural Face-Lift technique. Lastly, but certainly not least, it helps allow for better lymph flow.

  • Facial Gua Sha can basically accomplish ALL of the above when using different techniques for each focus. It also can be used to help redirect energy in the meridians when used the traditional way based on Traditional Chinese Medicine.

  • Facial Rollers – I love them, but in my own opinion they are best used for lymphatic stimulation and muscle tension.

  • Face Yoga (think going to the gym and lifting weights). This helps to firm, tone and even a-symmetry while improving the contours of your face. Not to mention greater confidence, better self-control over facial movements, increased blood flow, fewer headaches and wrinkles, less puffiness, brighter wider eyes, plumper lips, straighter nose and smoother neck, just to name a few😉

  • Facial Reflexology works with the nervous system to correct the flow of energy. The body signals to us a problem by means of pain, discomfort in the body, or external symptoms. These signals indicate an energetic block.

An energy block means there is a difficulty in circulation for the energy itself along with the vital life force which nourishes our body.  It is never a synonym for illness, but only a major request for energy (circulation of blood, lymphatic, nervous, respiratory, digestive, sexual, and or purely energetic) by one or more organs or systems.

To be quite honest, it is one of my favorite things to teach women because it has so many benefits.  It helps to balance our internal conditions and blockages.  It also, as a side benefit, can help the connective tissues and really bring circulation to the face while brightening the skin and the eyes.  Pretty cool huh!?!

Alright, so your hands are certainly an important tool.  Face Yoga also, does not need any physical tools to work.

But what about the tools that are something you use to help assist in the work needed to be done?

Let’s talk about those.

As always, you want to start with a clean face and some of these tools or techniques will require a good quality massage oil.  Here is one to try: NH’s Restoring Massage Oil

Jade Qi Spiked Roller by Cecily Braden

Not a fan of facial rollers? I wasn’t either until I discovered these “spiked” rollers.

What’s the difference? Simply, the benefits! If you balance your pressure with the movement, it can create a fundamental shift within the tissues of your skin. The addition of “spikes” improves Qi circulation (a.k.a. your body’s electricity) by stimulating the meridian points.

ANGIE’S PRO TIP

One of the main reasons I use a roller for myself or on clients is that I really love how well it works with raw honey or NH’s Hibiscus Honey Mask to gently lift the skin and create more space for the lymph to flow.  It feels really great too.  For more information on the mask and how to do this, please see the Hibiscus Honey Enzyme Mask.

Rose Quartz Sculpting Spoon

When used on a regular basis, a Gus Sha Tool CAN create change in your skin and facial appearance, if used correctly.

DESCRIPTION

The “beveled-shaped” design by Cecily Braden makes it easy to incorporate techniques for lymphatic drainage, sculpting, lifting, and smoothing the skin. Like all stones, it can be used warm or cold, with a client's favorite being chilled for puffy eyes.

ANGIE’S PRO TIP

My 3 favorite ways to use this tool are for sculpting the cheeks and brows, helping to drain the sinuses, and reduce under eye puffiness. I use NH’s Restoring Massage Oil for the facial massage medium. This spoon works beautifully with the Gua Sha Tools. You can purchase them here.

A small, convenient tool that can be carried easily and used anywhere to assist with therapeutic concerns and enhance the condition of your skin. Created by Jackie Van Ruler, this detector is used to stimulate facial reflexology points and is used to detect and uncover the origin of an imbalance.

ANGIE’S PRO TIP

To be quite honest, it is one of my favorite things to teach women because it has so many benefits.  It helps to balance our internal conditions and blockages.  It also, as a side benefit, can help the connective tissues and really bring circulation to the face while brightening the skin and the eyes.  Pretty cool huh!?!

Vibrational Facial Massage Wand

Like throwing a pebble in a pond, the oscillating vibration gently ripples through the layers of skin and beyond to create far-reaching and long-term shifts in the health of the skin.

The reach and magnitude of the soothing vibration around a central point and along the contours of the face stimulates acupressure points, wakes up the skin to relieve congestion, liberates stagnated fluid, and increases oxygen and nutrient-rich blood flow necessary for a healthy complexion.

ANGIE’S PRO TIP

Let’s just say, this wand feels amazing!!!  It kinda works like a roller and a gua sha all rolled into one and the gentle vibration effects on the lymph is a no-brainer.  I love to use it with NH’s - Restoring Massage Oil.
