Why Should I have MLD?

Unlocks The Relaxed State. Your body requires a relaxed state to heal. Modern life creates a high stress "fight or flight" mode which does not promote healing. MLD turns off the stress response, so your body can be in the optimal healing zone.

Activates Immune System. MLD stimulates immune cell circulation. The lymphatic system supports your immune function by removing waste products in order to minimize risk of infection.

Reduces Swelling. When the lymph vessels are cut, as in surgery or injury, the lymphatic fluid builds up causing swelling in your tissues. MLD will gently re-route the fluid, thus reducing swelling and inflammation.

Reduces Bruising & Pain. MLD moves damaged cells out, improves skin regeneration and tissue health. MLD has a profound analgesic, or pain-relieving effect.

MLD Reduces Scarring. MLD promotes soft, pliable tissues. Scarring and buildup of nodules are reduced. Hard tissue is softened.

Cleanses Tissues by draining excess fluids. This will detoxify and minimize your risk of infection. This reduces cellular debris such as bacteria, damaged proteins and dead cells that accumulate due to fatigue, stress, medications, lack of physical activity or age.

Helps You Get Back To Normal Life Faster After Surgery. Your Healing process is accelerated with MLD. When you reduce swelling, pain, bruising and activate the immune system by cleansing the tissues, this promotes a speedy and effective recovery process.

Faster Recovery From Sports Injuries. When pain and swelling are reduced, you can get back to doing the fun sports activities that you love with maximum mobility.

What is Manual

Lymphatic Drainage?

MLD was developed in Europe in the 1930’s by Dr. Emil and Estrid Vodder. It uses a variety of spiral and circular movements of light pressure, which are rhythmic, repetitive, and uniform in nature on dry skin.

The gentle, rhythmic stokes of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), calms the Sympathetic Nervous System, allowing the Parasympathetic Nervous System to induce a profound state of relaxation and feeling of well-being. It promotes detoxification, regeneration, and nourishment in the cells throughout the entire body. Manual lymphatic drainage is also a powerful therapeutic technique which is highly effective in a wide variety of situations.  MLD helps reduce pain caused by inflammation. Inflammation creates micro- or even visible swelling of stagnant fluid. The fluid's load of metabolic waste and toxins irritates the nerves, causing pain in the tissues and joints.

  • It benefits a healthy person as well as be applied to more than 60 different health conditions. Scientific studies, as well as vast clinical experience, have supported the effectiveness of MLD.

  •  Your lymphatic system can be thought of as the garbage collection system of the body, and as such, flushes toxins and waste out of muscle tissues and organs. In this way, the lymph system plays a vital role in your immune system.

  •  Lymphatic drainage is a gentle process that encourages these channels to drain and clear up, improving health both mentally and physically.

  •  Skepticism is encouraged, especially if you are unfamiliar with lymphatic drainage and are just now exploring its potential benefits. Don’t worry- its benefits are well supported via clinical studies. Studies have demonstrated its benefits with respect to breast cancer and general well-being. If you’re diving deep and doing your homework, I recommend these studies and articles to start: Vodder Education OR Organic Spa.
